"Another Planet"

Many years ago I was approached by a staff writer from Paramount Pictures. After reviewing some of my original work she asked me to start writing again. I read several books on song and lyric writing and got pretty far, but I had great difficulty finishing songs. I would vet over the same song for weeks on end. Eventually I had to take a break from songwriting.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, I like many other musicians was out of luck. Since performing was not an option anymore I tried a few livestreams. People were asking me to play songs from the 60's and 70's. I started singing, playing different songs, and looking at how they were written. I really enjoyed it, and the experience inspired me to work on my original songs again. I did not want to waste an eternity on one song like I had done before, so his time I would set up a challenge.

I decided to write one song a week, for ten weeks. After that week was over I would move on to the next song. I would write the lyrics, the music, and record it. The purpose of this challenge was to see how much I could get done in ten weeks, and to see if anything I would write could be presentable to the public.

After the challenge I fine tuned my songs by working on them individually. I made better recordings, and mixed them for the mastering phase. This took a lot longer than I thought, but I was able to get a lot of support from my friends and songwriting community.

The settings and characters I was thinking while writing about seemed to be entangled in some kind of space opera. I have always been a big fan of Star Wars , by George Lucas and I had recently read "Chariots of the Gods", by Eric Von Dankien , and "The Twelfth Planet", by Zecharia Sitchin. These books had a compelling impact on me, and I drew a lot of inspiration from them for my characters. Finally it hit me. I could write 10-14 songs to form a space themed album. I had never written a conceptual album before, so I thought this would be a good way to push my writing skills.

Try the challenge for yourself, and let me know how it turns out. I hope you enjoy the songs! Follow me for release dates and announcements!👽
