Chris Luther has been performing and writing music for over 20 years. Originally from Long Island, N.Y. and raised in Greensboro N.C. Chris studied guitar from age 13 with Country guitarist/vocalist Richard Knight, and later with Jazz Guitarist Greg Hyslop. Chris was a member of the Grimsley High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Forrest Munden. He performed in the musical “Grease”, and studied at the Greensboro Music Academy. In 1997 he recorded his first rock album with The Bandits.
After High School Chris attended Cape Fear Community college In Wilmington, and then attended the UNCW Jazz Department to study jazz guitar under Bob Russell. Since graduation in 2007, Chris has been an active musician in the Wilmington area, and a dedicated participant with the Benny Hill Jazz Jam. Chris started writing his own music again in 2011, and created his publishing company Chris Luther Music in 2015. In 2016 Chris traveled to Nice, France, and played around the local wine shops, jazz jams, and on the Promenade des Anglais which inspired a new direction for music for him.
Chris continues to perform, write music and teach lessons in the Wilmington area.
A new chapter will unfold soon, as Chris’s love for the playing guitar, and writing music has set him on a journey that has swept him off his feet.
